August Update

Recently Asked Questions

I (Bryden) have recently started a new project called Streamy.gg on top of Strafe, and some people have been asking if Strafe is "done for." I want to clarify that Strafe is definitely not done for. I will continue developing and supporting Strafe for as long as I can.

The Future of Strafe and How Streamy.gg Can Help

I believe that Streamy.gg has the potential to become more profitable and can also drive more users to Strafe. There's a possibility for streamers to build communities on Strafe instead of on competitors like Discord or Revolt. Since I own both Streamy and Strafe, Streamy could offer seamless integration and exclusive features for Strafe users. At the moment, Strafe isn't profitable and is being sustained through donations.

Strafe's Current Status

Development on Strafe has slowed down recently, and I apologize for that. I've recently started school again and have been busy. Both Shadow and I are balancing our work on Strafe with our class schedules. However, rest assured, Strafe is not going anywhere in the near future. Once I get settled into my classes, I plan to alternate between streaming Strafe and Streamy.gg development. You can check out my streams on Rumble, Kick, and Twitch.

Development Status

As I mentioned, development on Strafe has been slower lately. I also want to be honest—the current alpha build of Strafe, particularly the Next.js client, isn't up to par. The Node.js backend, on the other hand, is clean and well-written, but we're finding that Node.js itself is holding us back. While I've mentioned before that we would change tech stacks, I now want to officially announce that we'll be moving to a Solid.js client and rewriting the backend in Go soon. However, before we make those changes, I'd like to bring the Next.js and Node.js versions to a stable point, so we can release a working website. The rewrites may take some time.

Strafe isn't disappearing, but development has slowed down a bit. I plan to provide more monthly updates moving forward. I hope you'll continue to support us.
